The first edition of Global Psychology Talks was held online on 18 October 2025, bringing psychology students, academics, researchers, and professionals together for an international programme featuring six distinguished speakers from different areas of psychology. Designed as an accessible platform for academic exchange, the event provided participants with the opportunity to engage with contemporary psychological research, explore emerging perspectives, and connect with members of the global psychology community.
Prof. Florian G. Kaiser presented “Environmental Attitude Within the Campbell Paradigm,” offering valuable insights into environmental behaviour and the psychological processes underlying individual action. Prof. Arie Kruglanski examined “The Psychological Dynamics of Extremism,” addressing the motivations and mechanisms that contribute to extremist thinking and behaviour. Prof. Vlad Glăveanu introduced participants to “Possibility Studies: An Invitation,” encouraging new ways of thinking about creativity, imagination, and human potential.
Prof. Daryl O’Connor addressed the serious psychological and physical consequences of stress in his session, “Stress: The Quiet Killer,” highlighting the importance of understanding stress as both a personal and public health concern. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Barbara Hanfstingl explored motivation, mindset, and self-determination, focusing on the factors that influence personal development, learning, and goal-directed behaviour. Asst. Prof. Dr. Ela Arı concluded the programme with “The Behavioral Art of Being Connected: From Loneliness to Resilience,” examining the role of meaningful social connection in psychological well-being and resilience.
Covering environmental behaviour, extremism, creativity, stress, motivation, connection, and resilience, the event offered participants a broad and interdisciplinary perspective on current psychological issues. The diversity of the programme encouraged discussion across different areas of psychology and created a meaningful space for students, academics, and professionals from various cultural and educational backgrounds to exchange ideas.
As the first event in the series, Global Psychology Talks established a strong academic foundation for future editions. It also represented an important step in IPSYSO’s efforts to make high-quality psychological knowledge more accessible, support international academic engagement, and strengthen cooperation within the global psychology community.
